We Want Your Child to Succeed! AZYouthforce Works Closely with Parents to Bring Bright Futures!
Questions from Parents
Teens will gain workforce skills in the field they may be interested in with a support system. The internship will feel “grown up,” but teenagers are given enough support so that they do not feel lost or overwhelmed in a busy workplace.
For all internships (except Emerging Leaders), teens will have to complete 30 hours of essential skills training at the AZYF Academy. This training happens on three consecutive Saturdays. Then your teen must complete a background check, drug screen, and HR orientation. This process takes about 6 weeks. Once complete, your child can begin their 8-week internship.
Absolutely! An AZYF internship is a foot in the door for good jobs. Your teen will learn a lot in the AZYF Academy and then learn even more through their internship. When teens apply for future jobs with better pay, they will be more likely to get the interview and get hired.
If teen is under 18 we need parent signatures in some forms such as membership, drug screening, and background check. Of course, your teenager will need transportation to the AZYF Academy (3 Saturdays) and then once the internship begins, they’ll need transportation to their workplace.

You may look for online resources such as goodwillaz.org, look for "My Career Advisor." But know that a resume is not required when you apply for AZYouthforce. In fact, we will help your child write a resume at our AZYF Academy which helps teens prepare for their internship.
You may email AZYouthforce with any questions regarding the internship. Once your teen begins their internship, you can connect directly with their AZYF Case Manager. You’ll get to know this person well!
